I can only suggest:
1. Create maps of a small size (M).
2. Don't place obstacles that would prevent reaching the opponent by, say, the beginning of the second month.
3. Play at 160% - this doesn't question your professionalism as a player)), but it reduces the overall game time (and equalizes the strength of the races).
4. A limit of 1 minute will sharply increase the number of mistakes, but it won't noticeably reduce the overall game duration (because long battles are what prolong the game, and they, as you know, are not counted in the limit). I agree with GRAMM's first opinion; 2 minutes is ideal.
I hope that at least some of this will help improve the tournament.
