SECOND OFFLINE HEROES OF MIGHT AND MAGIC I TOURNAMENT "NEIGHBORS"

TOURNAMENT RULES

1. To participate in the second offline tournament for Heroes of Might and Magic I "NEIGHBORS", you must register on our website www.heroesworld.ru, as well as submit an application in this thread.

P.S. This tournament is held as part of the general same-named Cunningham tournament, therefore all information, as well as its progress and results, will be displayed in that section.
Турнир имени Jov Van Caneghem-а на HeroesWorld

Note: final tournament results will also be available in the offline tournaments section for Heroes of Might and Magic I.

2. The tournament is played on the Russian version of Heroes of Might and Magic I from Buka. The save will be generated on Russian version 1.1.

3. The goal of the game is to defeat the enemy.
The submitted save must contain the tournament number (2), the participant's number in the application table, the abbreviation (C - NEIGHBORS) and the player's Nick.

Example:

2_1_C_VDV_forever.GM1
2_2_C_AlexeyPank.GM1

4. The result will be evaluated, first and foremost, by the minimum time.
If several players have an equal walkthrough time, the best will be determined by the sum of primary skills (attack, defense, magic, knowledge) INCLUDING EQUIPPED ARTIFACTS; if a favorite is still not determined, then by the amount of mercury.

5. Along with the submitted save, it is mandatory to provide a description of the final step (battle with a hero, battle for a castle, capturing an artifact, victory over the last monster) after which victory occurs, or the walkthrough of the scenario.

6. The submitted save must have only one conquering hero who performs the final action (others should simply be dismissed).

7. It is forbidden: to buy back your dismissed heroes on the same day (i.e., using the "dismissal-buyback" trick);
it is also forbidden to buy heroes who died in battle (not to be confused with those who fled)!

8. It is forbidden: to move a bought-back hero who fled/paid off in battle on the day they fled/paid off. Buying such a hero is allowed, but they can only be moved the following day;

9.It is forbidden: To dig up the Grail without fully uncovering the puzzle map.

10. It is forbidden: to use cheating programs, codes, as well as additional software that can change the game structure.

11. Send the save to the email address VDV_forever@BK.RU

12. In case of suspicion of cheating or other malicious intent during the map walkthrough, a save must be made every game day.
In such a case (detection of cheating), the player will be required to send additional saves and provide a description of the walkthrough to the tournament organizer to determine whether the play was unfair or honest.
The result of a player who played dishonestly will be voided, and their further participation in tournaments will be impossible. This will also reflect poorly on their reputation.

13. Discussion of the tournament during its progress is FORBIDDEN!!!
(Players who violate this rule automatically exclude themselves from playing the tournament; their results will not be counted and will be annulled).

14. The tournament starts on February 1 and lasts until February 28 (inclusive!). Results will be announced on March 3, 2007.

15. After receiving your save, you will see in the application table that:

save accepted - indicated by a bold Nick.
save counted - indicated by an italicized bold Nick.

This list may be expanded with new participants!
We invite everyone to take part in the tournament!

Saves will only be considered for players who are in this table, so submit your applications IN ADVANCE!!!

Everything about the starting save

Starting save
from 01.02.07 download
save:
map from which the save was generated:

1. Download the save.

2. The downloaded Save must be placed on your computer in the GAMES folder of the installed Heroes of Might and Magic I.

3. Load it and start playing at any time convenient for you, while remembering to make daily saves.

4. After reaching the final action (after which victory occurs), save again.

5. With the final save, describe this last step in detail (most likely a battle); then the results will be processed faster and there will be fewer suspicions of cheating!!!

6. A full description of the tournament map is encouraged (optional). If such descriptions are provided, a contest for the best description will be held; 10 of them (the very best) will take their place of honor in the "Hall of Fame" section!

7. Send this save to the specified address (in the rules of this tournament).

8. Wait for the results.

P.S. I wish all tournament participants a great time playing and, most importantly, VICTORY!

P.S.S. If there are any additions or comments, please do not hesitate to speak up to minimize disagreements and shortcomings in the same-named process of the tournament.
Sincerely, VDV_forever

Hmm, maybe it would be better to indicate the tournament stage number in the save file for the VK tournament? Otherwise, it might be confusing... because this is the first stage, but the tournament is named "Second..." based on its number among the tournaments for the first part. (For example, the next tournament for the second part within the VK framework will have the abbreviation 4 or even 5...) I think there will be confusion.

Added 3 minutes later
I also think that point 7
7. The submitted save file must contain only one hero-conqueror, who performs the last action (the others must simply be disbanded).

should not be included in tournaments where the goal is not to collect something, where the final result can be represented by one hero. Otherwise, if the last action is performed by a pawn, you can lose in case of a tie in days, just because the parameters of this hero are worse than those of the opponent, but worse than the main hero.

Hmm, maybe it would be better to indicate the stage number of the Tournaments in the save file? Otherwise, it will be confusing... because this is the first stage, but the tournament is called "Second..." based on its number among the tournaments for the first game. (For example, the next tournament for the second game within the Tournaments will have the abbreviation 4 or even 5...) I think it will cause confusion.

I think the confusion will arise precisely if the tournaments are numbered in order within the Van Kaningham Tournament, since other tournaments may be running in parallel with it.
Therefore, introducing TWO numbering systems for tournaments is not advisable, and this is precisely the reason.

Since the topic is titled:
First stage of the "Van Kaningham" Tournament, and the heading reads:
SECOND OFFLINE TOURNAMENT FOR HEROES 1 "NEIGHBORS"
This cannot be a reason for confusion for either the organizers or the players.
Alan;64957
I also believe that point 7

Should not be included in tournaments where the goal is not to accumulate something, where the final result can be represented by one hero. Otherwise, if the last action is performed by a pawn, you can lose with an equal number of days, just because the parameters of this hero are worse than those of the opponent, but the main hero.

This point will also not be changed, since the resolution of all heroes in the final save may not be displayed correctly in the final calculation of the second component, such as skills. How does the organizer know which hero is stronger for the tournament participant? And which one does he prefer? What if the heroes are in the castle? It is possible that a player may have 2 heroes with the same skills.
P.S. Evaluate each hero in each save? Why all these complexities?

But this way, the intrigue remains...

P.S. Alan, are you going to participate, or not?

Sincerely, VDV_forever

If there are still spots available, I'll be the second representative of the Phoenix Order. Please add me to the registry! :)

The probability is, of course, very small, but it exists: Imagine that the entire map has been cleared, and only one hero remains from the AI players: blue and red. And two heroes from the player, who are standing in the Castles. In the First and Second heroes, the AI, if it loses a Castle, will definitely try to recapture a village or town. Therefore, the game may end on the AI's turn, and there is no way to disband one of the defending heroes beforehand. Then the final save will contain several heroes of the player.
Here is such a fantastic situation! :)
Therefore, the rules need to be amended: "The final save must contain only one hero of the player; otherwise, the tournament organizers will choose a hero at their discretion." Or something like that.

I think the confusion will arise precisely if we list the Tournaments in order within the Van Kaningham Tournament, since other Tournaments may be running in parallel with it.
Therefore, introducing TWO numbering systems for the Tournaments would be impractical, and this is precisely the reason.

In principle, I disagree! Because when a player starts playing in the Van Kaningham Tournament, they understand that there will be 10 stages, and it seems to me that it is easier to number the stages starting from one! Other Tournaments do not yet involve such a staged approach. IMHO.

And again, I disagree, please excuse me, but can we allow leaving two heroes in the final save? It's simple: in the description of the last turn, it will be necessary to write which hero makes the last turn, and which one is being evaluated.

Sincerely.

The hero that the AI attacks last will be considered. :)

I don't really agree! Because when a player starts playing in the VK tournament, they understand that there will be 10 stages, and the stages, in my opinion, are easier to number starting from one!

Please don't confuse the STAGES of the "Van Kanigem" tournament with the NUMBERING of ALL tournaments, including those that are part of it!

There will be 10 stages, in order, and no one is arguing about that:)
Kyle;64976

And again, I disagree, please excuse me, but can you allow two heroes to be left in the final save? It's simple: in the description of the last turn, you just need to write which hero makes the last turn, and which one goes for evaluation.

What's the point? There has always been one hero, and everyone was fine with that.
I don't understand why?< Maybe then allow 8 heroes + guardian heroes in each castle!

I see another bunch of arguments at the end of the tournament when summarizing the results... And why can't everything be clearly defined right away? "Who the computer will attack"... it's another lottery... (although I agree that the probability of such a scenario is close to zero). In general, when it comes to skills, it should be stated like this: "Only the skills that the hero Vasya has at the start will be taken into account." That's it. No arguments or ambiguity... This has long been invented by smart people, and why reinvent the wheel?... For the umpteenth time...

Just passing by :)
I don't play the first ones. I don't play any except for the third one... Please don't throw stones at me. :D

Please do not confuse the STAGES of the "Van Kanigem" tournament with the NUMERATION of ALL tournaments, including those that are part of it!

I don't think I'm confusing anything... it just turns out that: the first stage of VK is the second tournament in the first category, the second stage is the fourth (or even fifth) tournament in the second category, the third stage is again the second tournament but in the third category, the fourth stage is again the second tournament (or the first) but in the fourth category... in my opinion, it's very confusing... it's much simpler to number the saves by the stages of the VK tournament.

Example:

VK_1_1_VDV_forever.GM1
VK_1_2_Kyle.GM1

where VK is the Van Kanigem tournament, then the number is the stage number, then the number is the participant number in the application table.

This is more clear.

Sincerely.

I will definitely participate, although I don't expect to win. But I have one question: how will Grails be counted? Will it be the old system, or will the system proposed by AmberSoler be adopted? I will calculate the rating using three systems (we'll decide later which one is better): 1 - the Iron Axe system (non-linear, depends on the result. There is no aging in this tournament); 2 - the AmberSoler oscillator (non-linear and linear component, depending on the place. There is no aging in this tournament); 3 - oscillator + bonus, depending on the player's position in the rating (my system). But in addition to the tournament standings, the rating points will also go towards the overall portal standings!!!
