Permanent differs from seasonal in that it is not reset at the beginning of the season. You can win a seasonal ranking, but fall in the permanent ranking.

As I understand it, the results of seasons are cumulative, with an increasing total. I think the word "ACCUMULATES" is exactly what fits, right?:smile01:

My idea was that these rankings represent two different functions based on the array of games.
A permanent ranking can exist even without seasonal rankings.
Permanent rankings are not based on seasonal scores.
The difference between permanent and seasonal rankings is that permanent rankings are not reset at the beginning of a season. You can win a seasonal ranking, but your permanent ranking might decrease.
That's exactly how it is. In general, over a long period, the ranking accurately reflects a player's skill.

How is that possible? I can understand if it's Maretti, who won the seasonal ranking several times in a row, but with a slightly lower result.
As I understand it, the following option is being proposed:
- A permanent rating is based on the results of tournament games, which fairly reflects the player's skill level.
- The rating in a seasonal league largely depends on the player's activity, and in a seasonal league, you can choose any opponent, unlike a tournament game.
A logical option:
1) Introduce a permanent rating based on the results of tournament games. 2) Consider all games in the seasonal league as games within a single seasonal tournament, and upon completion of the season, add/subtract points to the permanent rating depending on the result in the seasonal tournament.
In this case, games in the seasonal league will have less impact on the rating, and the permanent rating can be used when drawing groups/forming brackets in knockout tournaments.
If you play against an opponent with a significantly lower rating, you won't gain much rating points upon winning (if the difference is more than 400 points, you get +1 for a win and -32 for a loss, I think), so farming rating points against weak players isn't the best idea.
I don't think that the tournament rating is better than the overall rating (seasonal + tournament). In the group stages of tournaments, you often encounter weak opponents, while in the seasonal ranking, some players specifically look for stronger opponents.
If you play against an opponent with a significantly lower rating, you'll gain very little rating points upon winning (if the difference is more than 400 points, you get +1 for a win and -32 for a loss, I think), so farming rating points against noobs isn't the best idea.
I don't think the tournament rating is any better than the general one (seasonal + tournament). In the group stages of tournaments, you often encounter weak opponents, while in the season, some specifically look for stronger players.
You're not explaining this to the right audience, Kostik))) Better find a candidate for this difficult task, or is it already decided and Nitro will be doing it?;)

Yes, everything is already decided. The budget has been squandered

A very sound idea. I was also a little surprised that tournament matches had the same weight as seasonal matches in the rating.

This is a bad path. Because today you will remove the seasonal mode from the permanent rating, and tomorrow there will be a dispute that some tournaments are not worthy of the permanent rating, and so on.
Yeah. A game is a game, no matter where it's played. Those who inflate their rating by playing against inexperienced players will lose it in tournament matches.
If you want a tournament rating, it's better to calculate it separately and using a different formula – based on the places achieved.
Each game is different; in a season, you can try different tactics, play for less "favorite Castles," study new patterns, etc. Also, in a season, the concentration and motivation to win are noticeably less than in Tournaments. Comparing a game in a season to a game in a Tournament is, in my opinion, incorrect. It's like awarding points in the overall standings for qualifying races in Formula 1. A more illustrative and closer example is football, where matches in the World Cup, European Championship, and similar tournaments "weigh" many times more than friendly matches when compiling the FIFA ranking.

This is a bad approach. Because today you will remove the season from the permanent ranking, and tomorrow there will be a dispute that some Tournaments are not worthy of being in the permanent ranking, etc.
There is no need to remove the season from the ranking; just reduce the coefficient of points awarded compared to tournament matches. The criterion for a worthy/unworthy tournament should be based on whether it is an official or unofficial tournament.
Well, in theory, you could award, say, 50 additional rating points for winning a tournament; this is how it was done, for example, in TOX. And to increase the prestige of the season, you could allow the winner to participate in the playoffs of some major tournament, or come up with some other bonus.
