Kingdom of Great Water

HistoryAbout five centuries ago, the land in the southeast of Akteia was sparsely populated. There were several reasons for this: a wall of dangerous mountains encircling the territory from the north, hostile forest wilds, and a very limited amount of arable land. The only indigenous people are the "pruvils." In the past, they settled in small villages on the ocean shore and were primarily engaged in fishing.
Everything changed when refugees from the north arrived in this land. These people had nothing to lose; they were fleeing ethnic cleansings, and only death awaited them behind. Only a few found a new homeland. Some perished while crossing the mountains, some died of disease, and many simply gave up and could not go further. But about a thousand survivors ended up in this forgotten corner and began a new life.
Government StructureForm of government –
dualistic monarchy. Order of succession – by appointment of the predecessor. Women have the right of succession.
The country's territory is divided into districts, and districts are divided into domains. Once every two years, a so-called "people's assembly" takes place in each domain. As a result of general discussion, one representative from the domain is elected, most often a well-known, respected person, a public, trade union, or other figure. He receives the title of "napondyr," which in translation from the local language means "one who claims." Then the tsar makes appointments. From the list of napondyrs, the tsar chooses elders (an elder manages a district and reports directly to the tsar) and personal advisors. In a domain, it is considered very honorable if a napondyr receives the title of district elder. This is not surprising, as one district may contain several dozen domains.
GeographyIn the northwestern part of the country lies the
Vugdamro ridge, extending (approximately) in the direction of the border with Shailion. Many rivers, large and small, originate here, flowing both to the east of the country and into the territory of Ventorium. Immediately behind the mountains are vast forests that reach right up to the cities. Plain areas are found mainly in the south, sometimes in the east, as well as on Friendship Island.
The climate is
temperate maritime, while in the mountains it is temperate mountain.
EconomyAgriculture is extremely underdeveloped. Only personal plots exist, and even those only in the southern districts.
Animal husbandry is developed across almost the entire territory. In mountainous areas (in the northern, northwestern, and central parts of the country), sheep and goat breeding predominate. In the southern and eastern regions, rabbits, poultry, and horses are raised. Pedigree horse breeding is an important industry (because cars are banned in the country). Captive breeding of fur-bearing animals and valuable fish species is not practiced. Fishing is developed everywhere (including trout fishing).
Mining and gambling are completely absent. Mechanical engineering, including car production, is also absent (all imported metal goes to the defense industry). The restoration sector and the production of furniture from elite wood species are also developed in the country.
{POSSIBLE} Friendship Island is a special economic zone.
The country has two large shipyards. One in the city of Owlver (civilian), another in the closed city of Mirabad (military).
Power plants of the following types are successfully operated: solar, wind, and hydroelectric.
TradeAlmost all foreign trade is carried out by sea.
The Kingdom of Great Water purchases:
— metal from Saenskresia (I've already agreed with Heaven), exclusively for military needs
— grain from Arcondia (agreed with Ar as well)
Army and NavyThe army of the Kingdom of Great Water is not numerous and is primarily oriented toward defense. There are well-fortified positions in key areas, a Saenskresian military base in the Vugdamro mountains, as well as an extensive air defense network throughout the country. The amount of armored vehicles and aviation is very small; the amount of artillery is average.
Conversely, the country's navy is quite impressive. Naval service is considered the most prestigious among citizens. Submarines are the main striking force, although the fleet of surface ships is also very broad. Coastal troops, naturally, belong to the navy rather than the army.
There is a foreign intelligence service; there is no data on its size.
The space service is not a separate branch of the armed forces.
Information technology is developed in the country, which is reflected in the army's information security units.
Two-meter super-soldiers serve only in special units, but they are not the only ones. There is knowledge of a top-secret naval special forces unit called the "Royal Otters."
Military agreements exist with Sanskresia and Agar; a common anti-submarine defense system is in place, and joint exercises are conducted.
A radar intelligence center is deployed on Friendship Island, as well as an air defense system that also protects the territory of Sanskresia.
PopulationMen are called
vodniki, women
vodyanki. People are not very religious, mostly practicing New Age. Emigrants are forbidden from living in the country if they are not even minimally familiar with the traditions, language, and culture.
CultureThe folk musical instrument is the dombra (not to be confused with the domra).
The national animal is the otter.
The national dish is pancakes with meat. Every year people choose the tastiest pancakes, and then scientists clone these pancakes in laboratories and sell them all year round.
The original culture of the pruvils is slowly but surely being erased because city life increasingly entices the youth.
TransportCars are completely banned. Most large and medium cities are connected by railway or monorail roads; there are airports. Horse-drawn transport, mainly horses, is also widely used. River transport is well developed.
Education and ScienceThe state spends a lot of funds on the development of fundamental and applied science. Prestigious educational institutions include the academy of civil water transport, Vaclav the Wise University, the institute of geoecology, and {POSSIBLE} the joint university of Friendship.
A treaty has been signed with Saenskresia for student exchange.
LegislationThe general message of Greatwater's legislation is "you can speak, you cannot do."
For example, there is freedom of speech in the country; rebel radio stations are permitted. However, the creation of political parties is banned.
