Does anyone know how to make it so that the music in a town doesn't restart from the beginning every time you enter it? I mean, like in Heroes 3 – the first time you enter a town, the music starts playing; you leave, explore the map, and when you enter the town again, the music continues from where it left off?
That's an interesting idea. There are two possibilities here. Either it's embedded in the executable file, or this setting exists in the music description file (which is an XDB file). In the second case, if the setting isn't immediately obvious, you need to compare it with the tracks that tend to be interrupted and then resume (any track for traveling through the environment; they are interrupted during the transition to a town, if my memory serves me correctly).
But in general, I should add a comment: the tracks for the towns in Heroes of Might and Magic V were originally designed to be played from the beginning, unlike in Heroes of Might and Magic III, where most of them are more expressive and simply won't sound good if played from the middle. Unless you replace them with different music...
That's exactly the point. I'm compiling a collection of music from Heroes 1-6, and some of the tracks simply won't sound right if they're played from the beginning every time.
