Watched Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016, Disney).

- Look at the road! Who do you see there?
- No one, said Alice.
- I wish I had such eyesight! remarked the King with envy. - To see no one! And at such a distance!

(c) Book. In general, that's how I feel about the movie. -- Look at the movie! What do you see?
-- Nothing.
-- I wish I had such eyesight!
The first part, "Alice in Wonderland," was quite far from the book, and, of course, in a worse way. But still, it retained some things, and some new things, like the battle with the Barma-glot, were even relatively successful. The new part didn't take anything from the book (are we even going to consider the fact about mirrors?), a huge layer of ideas and linguistic humor was lost, and the best "pun" the authors could come up with is... ta-da! *Fanfare sounds.* Here comes a spoiler! Chronosphere!
Quite worthy of Lewis Carroll, don't you think?
In general, I don't know, such plots are usually inserted when there's nothing left to invent, but a prequel is desired. And yet, I can't say that the movie was bad. It's not original or witty, but the "Hollywood" that's there is generally implemented quite well. Therefore,
