We were discussing... Aliens. I don't even know what kind of lecture it was. Probably some kind of philosophy, who else would talk about such nonsense, right?

Well, why not? It's perfectly normal for astronomy. Remember the Voyager probes with their golden records. And the Fermi paradox as well (although that's more philosophy, yes, but you can still say a few words about science here).
