We got a kitten in the summer; it's of mixed breed, but its mother’s owner called these cats “rat-catchers.” I don’t know what makes them good at catching rats, but the cat-mother had some distinctive features: pleasant and abundant (but not excessive) fluffiness; sharp but beautiful facial features; and a great long fluffy tail. We looked for a kitten for a long time, choosing mainly based on appearance. The “rat-catchers” appealed to us. Then we couldn’t come up with a name for him for a while, considering different options. My mom initially leaned towards something simple, like Barsik or Murzik, or Ryсик as a last resort. I also wanted something simple, but more meaningful and poetic. In the end, we agreed on the name Lyutik – after the character from the Witcher saga (which I became obsessed with this spring; I am currently reading the 6th book). Therefore, my affection for Lyutik the character and Lyutik the cat has proportionally increased. Lyutik is now less than six months old; he is growing into a rather smart and healthy cat. I am home about once a month, and each time I notice that the cat has grown noticeably bigger! Lyutik has his own quirks: sometimes he disdainfully turns away from meat and starts eating vegetables, like zucchini, etc. :D And he really loves watching water flow. So, sometimes we leave a thin stream of water in the bathtub for him, and he plays with it, laps it up, and washes his face with it. Overall, we are happy with Lyutik – he quickly learned to use the litter box, he's affectionate, and when he "fights," it seems like he doesn’t do it with full force, very gently. We used to have a cat who always fought as if it were a life-or-death battle – that was intense. Anyway, he’s a good kitty, and we chose a suitable name for him – it suits him well.
And here are some pictures!

What a cutie! The next picture shows off Lyutik’s “rat-catcher” tail:

P.S. Only one thing didn’t come true – my mom’s dream of getting a cat with a black nose :D “But this one will do too,” she jokes
