It started out for the worst, but ended up for the best. For 3 weeks I ran around with my starting army, 0 objects with 3 castles, no tempo, nothing to do on the move except stables in the main. Then I built control and resurrect, found 3 Dragon Utopias (not great ones, but still) and things got rolling. I picked up a bit of army. 7 Archangels. I was breaking into zones with Griffin Conservatories... But I still managed to blunder in time trouble. The fight was winnable for Artem with 2 attacks, but he didn't quite figure out how to do the second one.
Thanks for the game!
A decent start: Dees, I took a strong computer on the 1st, home Efreets in the Citadel, saw 2 Hives behind good guards at the crossroads and a very convenient entrance to the super-treasure zone. I decided to take the Hives by trading Inferno meat, thus temporarily giving up demon farming. Got lucky with the Hives: 12+8. On day 124 I got Expert Earth Magic at home, but instead of splitting up with Dees with artifacts to replenish mana and learn Resurrection, then heading to the super-treasure zone, I messed up the artifact transfer and went to the super-treasure zone without Resurrection, replenishing mana along the way at a Well. On day 125 I broke into the super-treasure zone and it turned out to be in vain. On a couple of guards I lost all Efreets, all mana, some Wyverns, all fights were sweaty, lost a lot of timer time, and for all that I got only 10k XP and about 10k gold. I replenished the Wyverns at the nearest Hive. So I lost about 3 days of tempo and all the Inferno meat. Dees was leveling like crazy: Resistance, Earth Magic, Armorer, First Aid, Water Magic...
At the start of the third [week] I went to a corner treasure zone with 20 Wyverns and got lucky: found a Hive of 8 and a box of 20 Crossbowmen, immediately went to take a Dragon Utopia using Resurrection. The corner town turned out to be a Castle, plus a couple of caches of Spearmen and Marksmen – excellent future demons. On day 135 I took a double Dragon Utopia without losses, but losing all mana – I got a Keyhole View and a Sword +5 all! All this time the opponent hadn't shown much, there was a minor skirmish with heroes at the second crossroads. Dees kept getting junk skills, but Mephala got Attack and Logistics, I started leveling her in parallel and [leveling] the demon a bit. The next two weeks were just crippled: Dees with one War Hops around the second super-treasure zone, Mephala tries to pick up boxes – but everywhere it's either Necro meat, or gold, the only XP box is 5k, also demoning with heroes using a Flask +2 HP, I demoned about 180 demons. On day 211 the opponent shows stats slightly higher than mine with Nella, full control, good supports. The last week was not in my favor – they take away my few castles, I can't oppose anything without Air Magic, don't even have normal Scouting. But a miracle happened: on day 217 the opponent decided to steal a Griffin Conservatory from under my nose and didn't manage to fly away – timer. Opponent's army: 6 Archangels + 15 Swarm + 20 Minotaurs + Castle meat with Nella, against my 190 demons, 80 Wyverns, 4 Angels, however Dees without Attack. With Shackles of War, fully confident that after the attack I would have to flee since I can't catch up to the Archangels with Demons, I also bring Mephala here, who with her last 156 movement points just reaches Nella. I attack with Dees, the exchange: I have 170 demons left against 4 Archangels, we reload, delete troops, I remove the Shackles, repeat the turn, attack, buy back, buy out next to and... I don't reach Mephala with Dees by exactly 1 hex. I have to surrender, as there's nothing more to do with such heroes without full control. As it turned out later, if I had been a bit cleverer and more perceptive, there were 2 options for a second attack: I should have moved Mephala not right next to [the enemy], but only after the attack with Dees, to make it easier to transfer troops to her, or simply before the attack with Dees, take a nearby town and attack from there. But unfortunately, I couldn't take advantage of the opponent's mistake.
