Major update.

Thank you for creating this topic; I see that users are interested in a number of improvements.

The current situation is that the forum engine is so old that making changes to it requires a lot of resources, which we simply don't have right now. There were plans to switch to a new engine, but those plans failed. However, there is one plan in the works where HW will have a new engine in the future, which will allow for the implementation of improvements and changes. Time will tell whether it will be possible to bring it to life, and if so, we can definitely talk about similar functionalities on the new forum.

I have already increased the signature limit to 1000 characters; 500 is likely just the default forum setting, and there are no technical problems with this.
