Is diplomacy necessary?

Diplomacy should only be used for entertainment purposes, for example, to gather 12760 Ancient Behemoths. And then declare war on everyone at once!!!

Gathering such an army and then attacking isn't very interesting, and I don't think the computer, or even a person, would gather such an army... But in general, I have nothing against diplomacy; I use it quite rarely...
