Dag's post actually contains a reasonable point. In the sense that the changes resulting from the war will likely not be immediate, but gradual. Factories will be converted to wartime production, producing bullets instead of canned meat... Some people will be drafted into the army, maybe even quite a few. But we probably won't be able to choose what we do in this war. Unless we desert and run away, but that seems like a viable option only if this war doesn't affect you at all (like Sesama, who is currently in a foreign country). Or if it's a civil war (like in Ukraine now), it's best to stay out of it; there's nothing more shameful than fighting in such a war.
