Why consider a specific case? After all, the rules are the same for all heroes. If heroes of the same race with the same (visually) army move at different speeds, then this is direct proof that this fact (the pseudo-army has been removed, but the calculation of the movement range for the first day has not been changed) is indeed happening. There is no need to complicate things!!!

Here's a question: Were the heroes hired with one goblin already? Did they move before that? It's better to save when the heroes haven't been hired yet (in case someone already made a move before that save, and that's why they are lagging behind!).
Yes, the heroes are hired with one goblin, they haven't moved anywhere. You can restart the scenario and try to buy different Barbarians in the lower row of cities (meaning with one goblin), and then run them down, and, lo and behold - some of them will lag behind the others.
Now I am 100% sure that this hypothesis is correct!!! (practice :smile54:)
