And considering that the Knights of the Dead have been removed from generation for two expansions now, all these discussions are purely speculative. By the way, does their own damage stack with critical hits?
Not at all speculative. In my WGE mod, this ability (deadly strike) is present in a perfectly viable unit – the Djinn. Therefore, I have seen it work countless times and do not have unrealistic expectations of it. A Rakshasa with buffs under pressure is many times more dangerous.
The damage does not stack; the ability replaces the damage if it has a greater effect. The rounding of killed units is done downwards, i.e., for example, against 1 dragon, the ability will never work (0 killed), and against 3, when triggered, it will only kill 1 (one-third). DirtyLiar
Moreover, there is an entire tactic focused on such Cyclops.
Thank you, I am aware. Again, a similar strategy (buffing + inspiring) is implemented in one of the Orcish presets in my mod, so I am also well aware of what a double turn of a Cyclops is. As with the horses that carry away in the attack queue, I also wrote about it based on my experience, both with and without the mod.
