start listening to the opinions of strong players
This would be much easier if strong players occasionally expressed at least their own opinion, rather than keeping it to themselves, assuming it is already known to everyone. On some matters, discussion did take place here /topic/11696/ , but this is absolutely insufficient for building an adequate dialogue. Of all possible topics, only control scrolls and rebuilding were discussed (the latter in an absolutely unproductive manner of repeating the same arguments that had already been answered; no one except Marcus attempted to propose other types of rebuilding).
Now they'd add even more new objects to increase balance.
From everything I've seen, the impression is quite the opposite — new objects have added well to the overall balance of layouts. The reverse is true only on Jebus Cross, where layouts have leveled out a bit from the top, and as a result, non-chocolate starts have begun to appear more often. Although, of course, the strongest impact is also imposed by the one-restart rule. Jebus Cross with 1 restart on a blitz timer is, in principle, the absolute antonym of layout balance. Be that as it may, the problems of Jebus Cross, if they indeed exist, will need to be resolved by fine-tuning Jebus Cross itself along the lines of what Sav described
