I don't know how good Ivor is in melee combat. Narya is a versatile choice, but what if it gets tough? I think it's better to play it safe, and we can always pick up the rifle later; we don't need it urgently in this battle. Also, the dog has many attacks, higher accuracy, more evasion, and more health (in case Ivor survives all the attacks and manages to fire again). That's also important.
