Yeah, he's a pretty normal "maniac." After all, it's not a gameplay mechanic, but a balance regulator.

Although I agree with the "balance regulator" part, I disagree with "not a gameplay mechanic." If the maniac's role was only in regulating the balance and not in his personal drive to win through this regulation... there would be no point in him regulating the balance, or even playing at all.
