Tournaments and player rating.

In European football, all clubs start with 0 points, and the ranking considers the results of the last 5 years. However, their ranking is based on participation in only 2 tournaments. We have more than 10 tournaments every year. We can create a ranking using this approach, which is essentially what Vladimir is proposing. Let's assume a base ranking of 1000, and the ranking will not fall below this number. The ranking will consider the results of tournaments from the last 3 years. (But, as Joker said, we need a tournament calendar to avoid having tournaments where either the middle of the group stage or part of the playoffs falls on the new year). Moreover, we can create such a ranking now based on the results of 2013-2015. And accordingly, after 2016, the ranking will consider the years 2014-2016, and 2013 will be excluded. In this case, the seasonal league will be considered as a separate tournament, and after its completion, ranking points will be added for the top 20, for example. As a result, we will get an up-to-date tournament ranking based on approximately 40 tournaments from the last 3 years. But this approach is radically different from the current one.
