To be fair, a person's individual qualities and their contribution to society should be assessed separately from all other, ahem, aspects. But these "aspects" shouldn't be justified either. It's like... You can't deny Einstein's genius in physics, but he probably wouldn't be an authority on rodent biology, for example. At the same time, his lack of knowledge in rodent biology shouldn't be held against him when discussing physics, or even just his human qualities. You can talk about a speck of dust, like Locke did. In general, it's probably best not to give any kind of assessment of other people. Unless they themselves are drawing attention to themselves and intentionally "asking" to be evaluated. But that's already a specific case, and usually such people are not very pleasant regardless of their other qualities and views.
