No, you need to be persistent. I didn't persist when I was learning to draw, and as a result, I have what I have, but I could have already been a great designer.

He doesn't need to compose music, just play it. For this, it's enough to:
1. Know how.
2. Have (or develop) a sense of rhythm.
3. Learn to read sheet music (when I tried to return to playing the piano, the lack of this skill was the most noticeable; I couldn't, and still can't, play anything and understand it right away; everything had to be studied for a long time and I had to blindly poke at the keys).
In my humble opinion, all of this requires practice. Although there should be a lot of practice, I won't argue with that.
