I don't see where you found the problem. There was no Nebo, Heroist, or Revan; there were Udyolina, Kaeldrim, and Lucina. I can't imagine how you can hope to write a believable character if you constantly stumble over such moments.
I don't know about you, but for me, my character is my creation, with its own personality and character, and not just a set of stats or the ability to "immerse" myself in the game world. All (or almost all) of their actions are the result of my reflections on how this living character should act in a given situation.
My own sexual orientation has absolutely nothing to do with this. I don't pay attention to the author specifically; my character interacts with other characters and the game environment, and that's it.
