A man in a menacing black mask was breathing heavily. His grim appearance didn't bode well, and the billowing cloak only emphasized the hopelessness of the situation. Dima handed the server to Anya and shielded the girl with his body. Holograms tried to distract the opponent, but to no avail – they were too unrealistic.
"Listen, whoever you are," the young man said sharply, "back off, or you'll regret it!"
The mask made a strange hissing sound, as if laughing.
"Anya, run," Dmitry said. "I'll hold him off."
"No, I won't leave you," Anya replied.
"Don't be foolish. It will be pointless."
"I'll take the Guardian to a safe place and come back..."
"You won't come back."
"Don't tell me what to do..."
The man in black took off his mask, and a laughing man appeared before the couple, resembling Dima, but noticeably older.
"Um... DAD?! What are you doing here?!" the young man exclaimed in surprise.
"Ha, that's for scaring Mom and me and running off who knows where," the man retorted, laughing heartily. "What are you kids doing here? What's this Guardian? And who are these two?" he nodded at the holograms.
"It's a long story, Dad. It doesn't matter."
"No, I didn't crawl all this way and get this relic for nothing," Dmitry's father waved the mask. "Let's do this. I have a car, I'll give you a ride and your gizmo. And on the way, you can tell me what's going on here."
Dima and Anya agreed, returned to the camp, and packed all their gear into the car. The searcher and the guide decided not to interfere with the family idyll.
"Oh, my dad and his silly jokes," Dimka grumbled, plopping into the back seat.
"I like his sense of humor," Anya smiled, carefully placing the Guardian next to her.
"Sorry for interrupting your paradise in the hut," Dimin's dad chuckled. "And as an apology, I'll put on something romantic for you. And then you'll tell me everything, as we agreed."
