There are 2 options. Either play a best-of-5 series with a 1-game advantage for the winner, or 2 best-of-3 series with a 1-series advantage for the winner. That is, in the second option, the best-of-3 series are played starting from a score of 0-0, but the winner needs to win one best-of-3 series, while the loser needs to win 2 series.
