Returning from her journey, Agnet still failed to regain her father's favor, but at least she earned his respect, which already made her incredibly happy.
Immediately upon arrival, after seeing her family, she decided to find her spiritual path. And, finding those very preachers who once told her about the Creator, she restored her wavering faith and strengthened it as much as possible. She learned a lot about the Creator and how ancient the belief in Him actually is. She also learned a lot about other, pagan religions: this knowledge was important to her because it was in the worship of various Emperors, Lucians, and especially horned creatures that she saw the main reason for the depravity of people, which she witnessed during her journey. Everyone who did not believe in one God was potentially in danger, even if their false deity seemed to instill only reasonable, good, and eternal things in its followers.
Strengthened in her faith, she asked her teachers to bless her weapon and shield (by that time, her father had essentially given these items to her for permanent use; he himself decided to be content with a more traditional two-handed sword, which was also quite good). The spear became her "Will" ("The Will" of the Creator allows weapons to ignore various penalties; the weapon always strikes with full force), and the shield – “Guardian” (“Guardian” is bound to its owner and always warns him of danger with its golden glow).
However, Agnet began to have problems again, but of a different nature. It turned out that even she, with her not so significant knowledge of harmless "healing magic," was potentially in danger from those who persecute magic. Her distant relative, Heinrich dal Lang, the owner of the family sword of the Langes, decided to take advantage of this. The fact is that Heinrich had long harbored certain feelings for Agnet, but neither she nor her father wanted such a marriage because they did not respect the other branch of the Langes at all, and especially Heinrich. They knew him as a cowardly man; moreover, they suspected that Heinrich served Nox (although they could not confirm this). As a result, one day upon Agnet's return, Heinrich came to her father and directly blackmailed him, saying that he would tell the anti-magic fighters about his daughter's abilities if he didn't fulfill his wishes. Given the character of Jert dal Lang (Agnet's father), such an attempt predictably ended in a duel. And although Jert was considered an extremely skilled warrior, which cannot be said about Heinrich, he still lost and, moreover, failed to recover from the wounds received in battle and died...
Agnet was sure that Heinrich was too weak to defeat her father in a fair fight and that he used some kind of magic. This turned out to be true: when she herself went to defend her honor in a duel with Heinrich, her shield flared up with fire. Agnet instinctively covered her eyes with the shield and only then remembered how that woman in armor named Mark killed her enemies during the expedition, so it was this technique that should save her life. The girl practically continued the fight blindly, not daring to open her eyes, relying only on hearing, but against Heinrich, this was enough. After the first blow with a spear (it was precisely a blow; Agnet hit him on the head with her spear), the cowardly relative left the battlefield, tucking his tail between his legs.
Agnet stayed with her father until his last breath. Doctors could not help him, and all that remained was to pray... But, apparently, the time for Jert dal Lang had come. However, he left this world with honor.
After burying her father, Agnet spent some more time at home, and then heard the well-known news and, entrusting the estate to a trusted person, set off for Nevermore. Before that, she did one more thing: she took her father's skillfully crafted knight's shield, blessed it, and replaced her old round shield with it. One can say that this shield will be the last gift from her father...
