I would like to know more about the Shadow, as well as about the Darkness, but I fear my information is quite limited. However, I did find something in the library in Leukopolis when Epi was teaching me (I hope Epi doesn't read these notes; he doesn't like it when I call him that, but I can't help using this affectionate nickname). The Darkness is a very powerful and ancient being. It already existed during the division of the elves, which means it is thousands of years old! And, most interestingly, according to Dascalos' research, the Darkness turned out to be the first religion of the Sylvans, my ancestors! They met it and began to worship it, either admiring or fearing its great power. For quite some time, dark rituals dedicated to the Darkness were held in the forests of Tevera. The first Sylvans loved night and darkness, and even now, the keen eyesight and hearing we possess remind us of this. But then our ancestors learned another faith, and the cult of the Darkness was gradually replaced, eventually forgotten.
But the Darkness has not forgotten that it once ruled here. All these misfortunes for our people, especially the yoke of the Yor, are not so much the desire of the greedy emperors of Ishiva to expand their possessions, but rather the desire of the Darkness to enslave "its" people again. This is our retribution for the sins of our ancestors... But the Darkness will achieve nothing now.
Chapter 3. Retribution
The city had barely recovered from the destruction of the governor's palace when it faced an even greater problem. Insects... There hadn't been so many of them in Ville-de-Rou for a long time. Previously, it was locusts devastating the surrounding villages; now, the city was swarmed by hordes of stinging creatures. Humanoids rarely dared to go out into the streets, fearing that their entire body would become inflamed under the influence of hundreds of attacks from small aggressors.
And yet, there was an elf on the street who dared to venture out at this time. However, the insects were not scary to him: they didn't touch him for some reason. Another elf, BuglerV, could not boast such immunity: he tried to drive away wasps with fire. While doing this, he did not notice how the first one attacked him with a weapon. BuglerV immediately lost his arm but tried to attack his opponent back with magic. This had no effect: the enemy seemed to be in a rage and felt nothing. After numerous wounds, BuglerV fell lifelessly onto the pavement: it was all over for him; BuglerV was beyond resuscitation.
The grave of MyHighness turned out to be plundered, and something suggested that it was an animal larger than those attacking the city. Everything around was dug up, and wet tracks were visible everywhere.
With the first ray of sunlight, Ville-de-Rou became calm. The aggressive creatures left it, giving way to cautious citizens. Fruits carelessly left in the markets were forever lost to them, but there was no more damage. This time everything worked out, but not for everyone...
