There are, like, four elements. Fire + wood = fire + earth. Light is water and air, by elimination, although I'm not sure. Stones should also correspond to the elements. Ruby is fire. Sapphire is water. Topaz is earth. Amethyst is air. I think that's how it is.
Emerald goes with ruby, and topaz goes with amethyst. I think it's clear which goes where.
