Haven't played SM in a while. Decided to revisit it.

In the first week I ran around my respawn clearing gold and resources for horses. Kyrre picked up Air Magic. Cleared a secondary hero. 2 external dwellings of Centaurs and 1 of dendroids. At home, week 1,3-6 in the Citadel.
Started the second week with a mini Dragon Fly Hive. Then a max skeleton, medusa, mini naga bank. Full buy. Chain +4. No paths into the treasure zone were found - went to the opponent through wasteland. Along the way leveled up Air Magic, found a shield +3 (which the opponent was just short of for Armor of the Damned). And well, the actual encounter, where mass haste and a greater amount of stats in Magic and Defense carried the day.
