In the end, I managed to capture the Fortress on a snowy map during the final stages of the game. The stats there are higher (although not by much), and the army is smaller, even though the tavern showed more units for the blue player, plus they had an elixir and the Angel Alliance. And another question: are the armies significantly smaller? Because if the Fortress has higher stats, I'm not sure if you would have won so easily.
