Today, I had an interesting conversation with the Tormentor. We started talking about love. He said that love, from a scientific point of view, is an inexplicable phenomenon. Accordingly, I began to give him arguments about the chemical reactions in the human body in response to subconscious stimuli. And guess what? He called me an idiot.

I propose we discuss the following topic, colleagues. So, what is love?

I just saw this now. In reality, any scientists who claim that love is just chemistry, etc., can be easily ridiculed. Yes, it's possible that the human brain can subconsciously perceive smells that are not consciously perceived. But even if that's the case, such smells don't play a significant role. Why? It's elementary, Watson: sometimes, a single visual image is enough for infatuation (let's say, a portrait). You can look at a portrait of a girl and say to yourself, "I like her; I could be friends with her." The picture doesn't emit any smell, but does it evoke the appropriate feelings? The verdict is obvious.
However, there's a lot of psychology involved. On the one hand, there are societal views, your own additions to them, and personal experience, which allows you to judge a person's character based on their appearance. Plus, there's an element of randomness: sometimes, a person with a seemingly imperfect appearance can be very, very attractive for difficult-to-explain reasons (presumably also related to personal experience, but unconscious, stored in the subconscious, or perhaps some kind of attractive unconventionality).
