That's right (it's a pain). I spent the whole evening trying to find a suitable map, but at best, I ended up with maps where the Fae were beating up Sandro with three squads. So, I gave up on this option.
I thought so too.

But I came up with a new one, based on my old Walkthrough without pumping up mana. The trick is this... No one will return to the Fortress anymore. Sandro will weaken the enemy, Verfi Solmyr will be playing a supporting role, the Fae will be taking out nearby monsters. I won't touch the Orcish Treasury; there should be enough money to build the Mausoleum and buy two Nosferatu by the beginning of the fifth day.
It will be difficult without mana and vampires to push towards the port. Consider that you will be pushing towards the port alone with Sandro, as the vampires won't be able to catch up.

So, after boarding the ship, you want to immediately attack the Chaos Fortress. I don't know; it seems to me that the Nature Fortress is more important here, as it has mana. You should also get a second hero by now. You're slacking off; what do you need the Chaos hero for (who will you scare with it)? Anyway, the main battles will be fought by the vampires and Sandro.
The plan is the same as before: take Chaos and attack the two distant Fortresses in parallel. By the time I get there, I hope someone from my own Fortress (maybe a Horror) will take out Nature. The idea is to take three Fortresses synchronously.

Besides, while you're leveling up in the trees instead of getting on the ship, your economy might stall, and it's very important here. The faster you get on the ship, the faster you'll get rich, and accordingly, you'll buy more different artifacts. So, Iron, think carefully about whether to go to the Elementals.
You don't need to attack the Elementals there, and leveling up in one tree isn't that big of a detour. I think that rushing to get on the ship will only hurt you on this map. If you're going to get on the ship, do it with Imps and Vampires so that you can build a couple more ships on the next turn, or even more, because I'll need to transfer the Vampires one by one through the portal to Sandro, if I decide to attack Chaos first.

I'll be playing on the fourth day, calculating the gold, but I'm not completely sure yet; I'll be checking. :)
I'll probably get on the ship on the 7th or even the 8th day. I wonder, will you have already taken out Nature by that time without Vampires? Or is your goal to get on the ship to gather wood faster? And what will Sandro be doing in the meantime, or will he do it himself?
