I understand that mages would defeat everyone, albeit slowly. Their approach to the game, as demonstrated by Ichthyander, is "I only play for fun" and "there's nothing to play here, I'm leaving." I personally vowed not to play fun games with him anymore, but for some reason, despite not following his code of enjoying the game, he participates in tournaments... and in a tournament, there's a very important tendency to strive for first place, so don't be surprised that people use, perhaps slightly dubious or lengthy, but effective and "legal" ways to win.

P.S. Not exactly in a battle against me, but in a "Novice" tournament match against me, I witnessed someone using a pre-recorded sequence – an accelerated video of 40 minutes in its original form, showing how they were chasing around with ten griffin and diamond golems, waiting for morale to drop. Wouldn't it have been more chivalrous to defend and slowly chip away at them?
