I always prefer to gather all 4 magic types. At the very least, I'll definitely get Earth magic to level 10. The Dungeon is underground, after all!
Taking all four magic types is pointless, because the hero might be a warrior, not a mage, and it's unlikely that you'll need all the magic types when playing as the Dungeon faction (especially as an expert)!
