What's the point of your Christianity? You wear a cross, say a prayer, and that's it, you're a Christian, and your soul goes to heaven. Is that not how it works?

Of course not.

Besides, why should I prove anything to people who are going to spend their whole lives living like slobs, excuse my language? If you believe in God more than in science, then there's nothing to prove.

People don't just "believe" in science; they study it. Similarly, you can blindly believe in God, or you can try to understand Him. And understanding His plan is incredibly interesting. Science, physics, mathematics, and so on are all part of His plan. That's the point.
But you can also blindly believe in pseudoscience. "Oh, I want to be a scientist! I'll invent a teleporter! A time machine! The perfect human, just like Freud did!" These armchair scientists don't achieve anything in science.
