I must admit, they’ve really started making a lot of films where prominent historical figures are portrayed in a rather unflattering light. Apparently, there’s even one about Zhukov, focusing on his love affairs. And even one about Shakespeare. I don’t understand how this is possible. Even if something like that actually happened, we remember them for their good deeds, not for that, right? Why would anyone want to know such trivial details? So they can show off their knowledge in some company and say that Shakespeare was a womanizer? And list all the women in his life, real and fictional, from a “biographical” film, without knowing a single excerpt from his works in English? It’s a very questionable kind of erudition.
