So what now? Yes, it's true, but WoG isn't in its original form either. You see, every change to the original (in its current state) leads to a greater divergence. There's WoG, there's its creator, and in any case, everything depends on what he listens to and what he changes, including what someone doesn't like, just as there are various aspects that you or I might not like. So, by changing SOD, we'll start making changes that some people like and others don't, and the majority at any given time will be in control. This majority will change periodically, as will the gameplay; essentially, it will all turn into a WoG-like mod. It's important to understand that the classic version of SOD (which exists now) should always be kept in its original form. You can always create your own version, something different. It's impossible to achieve an ideal representation of the game among all players when there's the possibility to change it. WoG will change forever, but let SOD remain as it is.
