A whole generation of players has grown up, old man scorp, and you're none the wiser. You should test the youngsters' knowledge ;)

Haven't you asked yourself - why are you cooling off towards SoD/heroes, looking for new game variants (Shirik ban/all random/diplomacy etc etc) ? (I won't write my own opinion yet, so as not to unintentionally impose my view/vision)

I'm not cooling off towards Heroes. And I can't call it looking for new game variants either. I'd say I've started to feel the game better, if you will. And see its flaws in places I didn't notice before. For example, on XL maps it's very problematic to find control without rebuilding the guild, I felt that firsthand. Same with the Orb, with the timer. WT looks much better in some aspects, but there are those that are completely unacceptable.

Well, as for diplomacy, I didn't say it because I wanted to play with it, but because there were non-verbal slogans here like "keep your hands off SoD." For such characters, I reminded that SoD is the game it fully is. With all its charms and flaws. And a game with a bunch of restrictive rules is no longer SoD. It's SoD WITH RESTRICTIONS. But when it comes to the SoD that exists now, it is perceived as integral SoD, but when I suggested removing the Orb, the yelling started: "keep your hands off SoD." But if we face the truth, neither the first nor the second option is SoD. It's a stripped-down version of the universally beloved, classic, and sacred, a small subset of the great set of SoD. So whether with the Orb it's "SoD with restrictions" or without the Orb it's "SoD with restrictions".

So stop yelling. If someone said they play with one rule of fair play, no map/save revealing or viewing. Then yes, they would be playing SoD.

But this is empty bravado. Or simply not realizing that they are no longer playing the game John Van Caneghem made, but a perverted version of it :D for the sake of balance.
