By the way, it’s easy to upgrade dynasty weapons. Choose a completed campaign ("I chose the 4th map for the Demons"), and start the walkthrough again. When you get stronger, look for areas with more neutral creatures, but don’t attack them; just skip turns for about 25 months (press the E key) – it doesn’t take long. Check the neutral creatures’ legions, buy your own troops, and choose the weapon you need to upgrade. Defeat the neutral creatures in auto-battle. Done, the weapon is at its maximum level. Choose another weapon and move on to the next neutral creature. It took me 30 minutes to upgrade 22 dynasty weapons.
I don’t know, maybe I’m just not very bright? I didn’t start a new game; I just opened the last save in the campaign (the “Forward and Within” mission). It was near the very end of the game, so I just clicked through to 25 months, gathered all my troops, and at that time, there were incomparably more neutral creatures (maybe it’s a bug?). There was no way to win without defeating them. Nearby was George’s Castle; he had a large army, but not large enough to earn a decent number of points, and waiting for him to build up a decent army with just one castle would take not 25, but about 250 months.
