Ment (Necropolis, Kaspar) def JonnyP (Academy, Ora)
During the draft we determined: template "Smile", medium, factions as you see. The map was somewhat poor, but not catastrophically so. There were no mines (except for wood and ore) not only in my starting zone, but also in the adjacent one. Artifacts seemed okay (aside from the Dragon Mantle dropping repeatedly). I start the game: I get Zoltan, in the tavern Kaspar and Orson (well, I think, lucky me). I immediately dove into foolishness: in the first week I underestimated the Centaurs and Goblins and lost badly. I hired a hero, barely rebuilt the army (added Zombies from the town and dwelling, found Razzak in a prison, added Golems). On the second week I captured the Crypt, went for the Bears with the Belt of Elementals, discovered that auto-battle on the Crypt had drained all my mana :( I asked my opponent for a load, he agreed, for which many thanks. After that, everything went smoothly: I was a bit more cautious and moved not too fast, but steadily; the skills I got couldn't have been better. Money flowed like a river — partly from warehouses, partly from a Big Bag of Gold, partly from a built Capitol. I captured the Dwarven town and income increased further, plus the opportunity for conversion appeared (who said Bone Dragons are useless fighters? ;)). Problems were only with Mercury: even by the end of the game I hadn't upgraded the Dragons, I upgraded the Liches in the Fort.
I roamed one of the zones, saw Ora in a zone adjacent to the Dwarven one. Leaving a Gem Mine and a potential town nearby, I made a portal to town, bought everything, and went on the attack (before that, I had already entered the Artifact Merchant in the opponent's zone, bought Dragon Legs and a Ring of Speed; during this time my opponent took the Ring of Misfortune). Jonny was having a financial crisis, so his army was far from complete; after a brief skirmish, he fled. I activated a chain and gave chase. When I arrived, the opponent was already waiting in the castle and seemed to have bought everything (or almost everything). I spent a turn waiting for Deyja with the remainder of my army, and that's when he attacked. My army was larger, and my stats were fine (Jonny had poor Attack and Defense for some reason, apparently lacking Education and artifacts). Still, during the battle I had to get nervous: my opponent, as it turned out, had the Tome of Darkness, Expert Light Magic, Expert Dark Magic, and Sandro's Cloak! He pretty harshly dominated my Zombies, Skeletons (of which few remained in the end), and even the Phoenixes I summoned (plus Berserk). The Ring of Misfortune also didn't help much — many strong attacks were wasted. However, I had many Ghosts and Vampires, so the battle was decided in my favor.
I think we both gained good experience. Thanks for the game!
