I don't know, I thought Greed acts as a kind of Thief for Non-Direct Damage (ND), right?

Nothing like that:

ND. With the help of his guys, he can perform absolutely any ND available in the game, except for kills.

It doesn't say he steals. It says he uses it. Regardless of how another role with such an ND uses it and whether that role is still alive.
