Research is underway to explore the possibility of building an electron-positron linear collider, with an energy of approximately 3 TeV, after the LHC program is completed. One possible option is the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC), a project being developed at CERN in close collaboration with scientific institutions from 36 countries.
In June 2011, the TOP500 project committee announced that the K computer had topped the list of the world's most powerful supercomputers, achieving a score of 8.162 petaflops in the LINPACK test, or 8.162 quadrillion floating-point operations per second. The computational efficiency (the ratio of average performance to peak performance) was 93%. The system is still under construction, with final commissioning scheduled for November 2012, and the expected number of processors is 81,600.
