Well, people have already learned how to create protein molecules. There are even some primitive viruses made from these molecules, although I might be wrong. All of this is, of course, good, but I wouldn't be too proud of such achievements: all that humans can do is explore the world and create things based on analogies. So, the first phase is truly important; the second phase follows automatically from it when there is enough knowledge.

I recently watched a program on TV, and they claimed that they had found a manuscript describing events of the future. It stated that humans would soon learn to create new bodies for themselves.

It sounds incredible and fantastic, doesn't it? But people are already making artificial hearts, arms, and legs. So, what's so surprising? We have enough knowledge about this; it's just a matter of technology that will allow us to do it. For now, we only lack sufficient knowledge about the brain; that's where it gets more complicated. Connecting devices to it is possible, but creating something similar is not yet achievable.
