Actually, I think they gave the Dwarves too many exclusive skills compared to the others (Demons - 8, Knights - 3, Necromancers - 7, Rangers - 6, Dark Elves - 1, Wizards - 5, and Dwarves - 16, SIXTEEN). This is clearly an overabundance, considering the incredible power of some of them (Eternal Light, Mentorship, etc.)...
That's absolutely right! In general, it's a rather strange race: their defense is unrealistically strong (especially thanks to their skills), but only Dragons and Jarls have decent attack power; Berserkers might also be decent, but they are usually taken out quickly.
The Runes also seem unbalanced. We recently played a hot-seat game with a friend, and I got Berserker and Exorcism, while he got Exorcism and Speed! This Speed is simply on a different level compared to all the other runes; it might even be better than runes from higher tiers, since it's the only way to increase speed (not initiative).
But don't criticize the Priests. Thanks to the enhanced Fire Wall, which can now be cast on units, they are simply monsters! They are especially effective at setting archers with low health on fire – they then have to move aside and not only take fire damage but also lose their turn.
They also work well in combination with Ents – the Ents entangle, and the Priests burn them down :D (actually, I've never tried this tactic because I haven't played the expansion much yet, but I think it's a good idea).
And of course, that thing (the Watchtower, or something like that) from which hundreds of Dwarves emerge to defend their home city is terrifying (otherwise, you wouldn't even call it a city). It's incredibly difficult to kill them, especially the upgraded ones! And it's strange how so many Dwarves appear; and the strangest thing is that after the battle, even if the defender wins, they die! Do they commit suicide? I came up with a method to depopulate Dwarven cities – send squads with one, for example, Gremlin – a suicide unit – and 1000 Dwarves will die: D Soon, there will be no one left in the city: D
It's a good idea, it's just a shame it won't work...:D
