This confirms what you said earlier. When discussing "which magic is better," we stray from the topic and start talking about "which magic I know how to use" or "which magic I use more often." Usefulness is irrelevant here... :) The concept of "better" and "worse" only makes sense when applied to the question "in what situation?"

Which magic is better – fire or water? Many will say that "fire" is better. But if the question is: Which magic is better in a battle against Conflux – fire or water? The answer will be "water."

Another example: in a battle against a legion of dendroids, the best magic is not "earth," but "fire." The Berserk spell permanently binds the enemy to one spot. After that, the legion is easily destroyed even by a single archer in "auto-battle" mode (with a cart, of course)... Start the "auto-battle" and go to sleep. By morning, the job is done! :)
