Avira... well, it's not bad, I've seen it in action a couple of times.

The free Avira used to please me. It was my first antivirus. I plug in a flash drive, and it says there's a worm. Delete. OK. Five minutes later, there's a worm again. Delete. OK. Then again... After a few cycles, I installed Kaspersky, and it found a Trojan that Avira hadn't noticed (presumably, it was responsible for multiplying the worms while Avira was deleting them), removed it, and everything was fine.
P.S. Regarding Kaspersky, I once installed a key that came with a magazine. A month later, it expired, but Kaspersky didn't care. I used it with an expired key for six months until I wanted a new version.
