Who thinks that an army is unnecessary?

My father told me an interesting fact: in the USSR, young people didn't have any problems with the army! That is, if you were a student, you had every right not to see the military enlistment office or the bureaucrats who worked there. I don't know if this applied to those who were deemed unfit for service due to health reasons. So, this isn't a relic of communist society at all, but our new Russian tradition.
