Why should Death Knights be faster than Archdevils? They aren't faster than Emerald Dragons or Phoenixes in Heroes 5, by the way. Yes, it's about the movement type. But the more unique features different creatures have, the more diverse the gameplay becomes. Then you can also say: why do Black Dragons need flight? Let them walk. Movement isn't a luxury, but a means to reach the goal :D
