Well, "zombie" doesn't always imply a dead person; a zombie is a person who has lost control of their mind and obeys someone else's orders. And "undead" doesn't necessarily mean dead; for example, you definitely know that the word "undead" in Ukrainian means a runny nose. And you're exaggerating about the meat; the meat wasn't alive. The owner of this meat was alive.
And yet, in Russian, "undead" means "non-living entity";). Necropolis is... well, okay, faction of the undead :). Therefore, I believe that all units (but not heroes) should be living dead. The fact that the developers made liches alive completely changes the perception of the faction. Will this unit not have the "undead" ability??? And you are right about the meat :).
