Computer games, like any commercial product, are released with one goal — to make money. And the developers' ideas for the future application of a game are realized, God grant, in 5% of cases; otherwise, the gaming market would consist half of hits and half of good games filling the gap between hit releases. The full potential of a game can only be evaluated by players who spend many hours on it, and who are further united into some communities to exchange experience. If it were as you say — no one would organize tournaments or sign up for them.

That' same point is that SoD is not an esports game, but people try to use it as such. For many, Heroes might be the first and only serious multiplayer game, but for me, it is far from the first. And I know very well what esports gameplay is. Looking at the balance of SoD, a true esports player would almost have tears in their eyes, while vomiting emojis fly quite consistently.
"Vomiting emojis" are exactly the result of attempts to make the game supposedly sporty by introducing features like experience and other rubbish; this game should not be perceived as sporty, and that's that. Some are born into a family of millioners and their first car is some kind of sports Merc, while others are in a family of working folk and settle for bread and butter instead of caviar, and that' same normal, because life should be diverse and that is where the interest lies.
