The success of the entire endeavor ultimately depends only on the "fans of the series" who will buy or not buy the game. This should be taken into account when planning various innovations. However, I am not against innovations; the main thing is that the game is interesting.
In my opinion, fans are the least decisive audience of all. As usual, there will be many who will purchase the game without having played the previous installments, especially if critics write positive reviews, and the PR campaign is well executed. There are also those for whom the previous installments of the series were just another game. They played through the campaign, played multiplayer for a week, and then forgot about it. They won't be too concerned about the absence of 3 resources.
