since you're setting the tone like that, I'll translate my post into Russian for you ))
What exactly are your wishes, give me a clue???
- that the AK works better
- that there be no AK
- your own option
I want the AK to be an authoritative body, for everyone, not just for... hmm... I won't mince words. That's why I vote for people I either trust or am confident will work properly there. And I am categorically against those... hmm... getting into its ranks.
I originally appeared on the Portal. I lived there for quite a long time and didn't know any other Heroes sites, nor did I need them – the Portal was more than enough for me. Then, in early 2007, a schism occurred on the Portal; the Portal's programmer pool left and opened their own site, essentially a clone of the Portal. What happened between them and Gorbik... Believe me, the squabbles around Alex are all curtsies and bows compared to what went on there... By a twist of fate, this conflict unfolded right before my eyes almost continuously. Just a couple of days before it, sciatica crippled my old man's back, and I was stuck at home for three weeks straight, watching the events with horror. Anyone who was on the Portal before that schism will understand me. Navuh was there, but he doesn't read my posts ;) It felt like the world you lived in was collapsing. After that, the old Portal was no more. No, the Portal lived on and still lives, but the atmosphere was never the same... By the most conservative estimates, at least 50% of the active players left. The Magistrates left too. That's when I offered my services to Gorbik. I just wanted to help rebuild the Heroes world (remember, back then the Heroes world for me was 99% the Portal). And I can say for sure that I achieved a lot. At least HoMM2, which I oversaw together with lady Lion Star, lost fewer players than other versions. I managed to keep the veterans in tournaments for a while, so that new young players had someone to learn from. And many of today's stars of the Heroes world grew up in my tournaments and in the place linked in my signature.
But as I ran tournaments, I gradually came to understand that the Portal alone wouldn't last long, just like the League and other resources. I had the closest relations with the League back then. After all, Dust and I are from the same city, we've known each other for a long time, we've clashed online many times, and so on... Around the summer of 2007, I finally formed the opinion that the Heroes movement needed to be developed everywhere; that was its only salvation. That same summer, Dust invited me to participate in the League's online HoMM2 championship. I agreed, of course. And then... I heard a lot of flattering words about myself from Gorbik. Like, "What is this, a Portal Magister playing in the League?" and so on and so forth. Remember, not much time had passed since Pool's split, and the witch hunt was in full swing. I spent a very long time explaining to him that he was wrong, but I didn't fully convince him back then... Then it all faded...
In November 2007, I came to World. Querty had been recommending it to me for a long time, but apparently the time wasn't right back then. When I came here, HeroesWorld immediately captivated me. Captivated, first and foremost, by the people who lived here. No, the Portal people weren't worse or better; it's just that HW was a young resource back then, and literally every post in tournament discussions or elsewhere showed a desire to learn something new, to acquire skills (if you look at my signature again, you'll guess why this resonated so strongly with me). And of course, a bunch of wonderful (in every sense) people lived here. TaKo, Nagan, Kamikaze, DimaAS, Dirty, Vanechka... you can't remember or list them all. It's no surprise that almost immediately, my friends and I, fans of HoMM2 – Dust and Querty – came up with the idea of holding joint tournaments. They started two and a half years ago and continue to this day, and are very popular. In the last one, for instance, more than 20 people participated. After that, the HoMM3 players picked up our initiative. And at the initial stage, I was the one who conveyed this idea to Kostya (Dirty Player) from the Portal Magistrates.
But that's about offline, of course... There are a few words about online too. In 2008, the first inter-portal Bay-Portal-World took place. Let's just say... I supported this idea a bit, maybe helped Neo (the Portal captain) somewhat, and Nagan (the World captain) consulted with me a little. And the idea was exactly the same – uniting Heroes players from different resources. Even back then, it was clear that if everyone kept stewing in their own juice, the Heroes movement would gradually wither away. Naturally, it was obvious that tournament couldn't proceed without conflicts. And I was there, directly participating in almost all of them. Neo even offered to let me be captain instead of him. But I knew that after going through all those hellish shit-fights, people would grow closer to each other. And so it happened. Many Portal players came here and started playing on Bay. World players became frequent guests on Portal and Bay. Veterans from Bay started playing on Portal and World. Idyllic...
Then came Nagan's idea of a CIS championship. Vik completed it. Asmo creates VK, a version that satisfied 95% of active online players. Everything is moving towards unification. And then...
You seem like an intelligent person... But couldn't you have foreseen that your decision would set the Heroes movement back almost two years? Any normal person would understand that losing Forrest, Cobra, and even Alex is a huge loss, first and foremost for HW itself.
I've said many times how things are handled in similar cases. Yes, there's video, but there's also eyewitness testimony. The person takes the blame themselves. Well... a messy computer, lag, a warning, and that's it. If you're sure there was cheating, do it in a way that convinces the entire community, and award a lifetime ban. Your decision was neither fish nor fowl. And the most interesting thing is that none of you foresaw what it would all lead to.
It is precisely because your decision set the Heroes movement back that I am so opposed to the AK and Pavel in particular. He, sorry, but Vik is absolutely right about everything here, can neither clearly formulate his thoughts, nor argue his position (the forum gave the AK rights, so the AK is right – that's not an argument), nor properly carry out organizational activities (that's about the endless opening of meaningless threads).
I want the AK to primarily serve the unification of the Heroes movement, to serve as a tool for extinguishing conflicts, not as a match that ignites them. That's why I vote for people capable of such activity. People who can see a little further than their own nose. Although I do have certain disagreements with some of them.
As for my playing online. Like, "You don't play, so don't interfere." Well, I do play from time to time. That's the first thing. Secondly, if I don't play, it doesn't mean I'm not up to date. I follow almost all tournaments across the three resources and have an idea of who's who. If I didn't, how could I suddenly appear out of nowhere and jump into arguments, being completely in the know?
By the way, regarding the CIS finals, I was upset only because Navuh is by no means a figure who promotes Heroes unity, which turned out to be the case.
In short, my position is this: unification of the Heroes movement and a corresponding AK composition.
Yes, and I call those "false patriots of HW" who say "go to Portal" (or Bay, or somewhere else). As short-sighted people, they don't understand that this will backfire on HW as well.
Catch the deep thought, don't rush to answer ahead of Vik ;)
I'm glad you hold my intellectual abilities in such high regard ;) Unfortunately, I don't sit glued to my computer 24/7 and saw your post only after Vik had already replied to it, otherwise I would have definitely barged in ahead of him with my flood ;)
